What is a Flight Control Unit? | Understanding FCU and How it is used? | A320
Hi. In this video we look at what is the flight control unit or FCU. We take an A320 Flight simulator to understand how the FCU is used to communicate with the Autoflight system. We see the different modes of operation of the autoflight system and also look at how the modes are engaged from the FCU along with the different knobs that are available.
Was on a short break, which is why the delay in the upload. Apologies for that!!

Understanding EDTO | Threshold Time | Advantages of EDTO | Aircraft and Operator Requirements |
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.Месяц назад
Hi. In this video we look at what is meant by Extended Diversion Time Operations, or EDTO. We apply this concept on a twin engine aircraft, where it was initially called as ETOPS. We see what is the meaning of threshold time and how EDTO has an effect on the flight route. We also look at different terms used in EDTO along with the Aircraft and Operator Requirements. Hope it is useful. Please do...
What is Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)? | Understanding GPS and Augmentation Systems
Просмотров 4,6 тыс.Месяц назад
Hello. In this video we look at what is meant by Global Navigation Satellite System or GNSS. Satellite Navigation plays a major role in Aircraft navigation currently and is used by all major aircraft. This concept becomes important for PBN to allow a more direct routing and hence more fuel savings. We look at the 2 components of GNSS: GPS and Augmentation Systems. We see what is meant by GPS an...
What is a Distance Measuring Equipment? | How DME is used to calculate Aircraft Position
Просмотров 2,5 тыс.Месяц назад
Hello. In this video we look at what is a Distance Measuring Equipment or DME. We see how a DME is used by an Aircraft to compute its distance from this beacon. The distance information may be used for different purposes which is given in this video. We also look at another important use of the DME, which is calculating an aircraft's position. This video just gives a 2d idea of position computa...
Understanding SLATS and its influence on the Critical Angle of Attack | Types of slats
Просмотров 2 тыс.2 месяца назад
Hi. In this video, we look at what are slats and the influence it has on the critical angle of attack. We see how slats allow an aircraft to fly at low speeds and at higher angle of attack. We also look at the types of slats and focus more on the type which is commonly used on modern aircraft. We see what is meant by critical angle of attack and how it changes when slats are extended. Thank you...
Few Incidents where Passenger Aircraft Lost All Engine Power | Reasons for these Incidents
Просмотров 8082 месяца назад
Hi. In this video we do an event analysis of few incidents where an aircraft became a glider. Engines are not only required for producing thrust, but also for running other systems as well. In this video we look at few incidents where all the engines were lost but the crew was able to glide the aircraft and descend gradually. There are different reason(s) why the engines stopped running, and we...

Hi. In this video we look at a conventional Airspeed Indicator and the different color coded markings on this instrument. We see how the different arcs represent different speed limitations, which should not be crossed in certain conditions. In each arc we look at the different airplane configurations applicable for that speed range. We focus on the White Arc, Green Arc and the Yellow Arc range...
Understanding Operation of Cold Stream Thrust Reverser Systems | Pivoting Doors | Cascade Reverser
Просмотров 2,6 тыс.3 месяца назад
Hi! In this video we look at the thrust reverser systems. On jet engines these systems can be classified as hot stream and cold stream reversers. On modern turbofan engines the cold stream reversers are installed and are used to only deflect the bypass air, or the "cold stream" in the engine. Here we look at what is a thrust reverser and the operation of two types of cold stream reversers: Pivo...

From taxi, takeoff till landing, there are weight limitations that should be followed for a safe flight, without any damage to the aircraft. We look at the different weights that are added to an Airplane's Empty Weight. We also look at what weight...
Understanding the different types of Airspeeds | IAS | CAS | TAS | GS | M
Просмотров 5 тыс.3 месяца назад
Hi. In this video we look at airspeeds. We see a general idea of how an airspeed indicator works. The pressure difference between static and pitot pressures, gives us Indicated Airspeed. From the IAS, we look at how Calibrated Airspeed, True Airspeed and Ground Speed are obtained. If we increase the speed further, Mach number is also used, which is also included in the video. Hope it is useful....

Hey! In this video we look at what is meant by emergency descent. Aircraft have to fly at high altitudes now a days, but in case of certain emergencies, the aircraft should be able to come to a lower altitude as rapidly as possible. This is done by following the procedure for Emergency Descent. The actual procedure would be mentioned in the manufacturer documents. In this video we look at a gen...

Before turning ON the battery no.1 & 2 you make sure that the voltage of the batteries is 25.5 V if it is low then you need to consider the startup with external power before turning ON the batteries. It takes a 20 minute recharge cycle.

Haha. How you expect viewers to understand roll and yaw and their interconnection, when you yourself don't understand it ? The tilt of the resulting airforce vector (not just the lift vector) causes the plane to slide towards the hanging wing. (And being now unbalanced with the weight vector causes the plane also to accelerate downwards.) The yaw - the 'adverse' yaw as it's called in the biz - is caused by the uneven induced drag the ailerons produce upon being deflected. You can't properly explain adverse yaw without introducing and explaining the term induced drag beforehand.

I bought the whole Sim a year ago and struggled to 'learn' the ATR, but now I 'need' some more fast aircrafts to travel around the world, so I was collecting infos and searching for tutorials regarding the A319/320 Airbus aircafts, when I stumbled in this very video! Thank you for the, ehm… suggestion!! :)

The engines will also suction feed from the fuel tanks. I once saw a test pilot try to balance the fuel tanks and even after turning off both fuel pumps in one tank it made no difference because the engine still suction fed. Illegal during landing and not recommended during turbulence.

Another thing about the radar......even though there is only one antenna the Captain and First Officer can get their own settings on their display. The Captain might have one type of sweep set and the FO another type of sweep. The radar system will do the Captain's request on one sweep and do the First Officer's settings on the next sweep.

This is a good helpful quick guide however I think I can point out one area of this video that's confusing. You show the displaced threshold with the "Chevron markings" and not the displaced threshold arrow markings. These are very different meanings since the Chevron area CANNOT be used or considered part of the runway that's usable by an airplane on takeoff or landing. .
